The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and the Joan and Stanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University are two institutions committed to patient care, education and research.

The New York Hospital was established in 1771 by a Royal Charter from King George III. It is the oldest hospital in the city and the second oldest in the United States. The Cornell Medical College, founded in 1898 was established in New York City. In 1932 The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical College was built at the present site on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The opening of the Greenberg Pavilion on April 8, 1997 marked the beginning of the most recent chapter in the hospital's history as a world leader in health care.

The Department of Pediatrics' sixth floor includes a general pediatric unit, a pediatric clinical research center, a pediatric critical care unit and a neonatal intensive care unit.

The graduate training program of the Department of Pediatrics offers a well-balanced experience in subspecialty care, community-based pediatrics and clinical research.
