Welcome from the Chairman

As Pediatrician-in-Chief and Chairman, it is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to the NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health. and the Department of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College.

This is an exciting time for our Department. We have completed renovations of most of our inpatient and outpatient facilities. Our collaborations across departments continue with the innovative, patient-centered Center for Advanced Digestive Care, which includes a pediatric program, and the Weill Cornell Perinatal Center, a one-stop center for fetal diagnosis. Other new programs in the Department include a pediatric sleep program, a center for pediatric aerodigestive care, and a program specializing in pediatric GI motility.

Our Department's mission is to provide our residents with an outstanding educational experience. Our program combines a broad based comprehensive general pediatrics experience coupled with an in-depth exposure to tertiary and quaternary sub-specialty pediatrics. The Department is developing a state-of-the-art full-scale pediatric simulation program and center which uses the latest simulation technology. We have outstanding faculty who are committed to your education. During your time with us, you will have considerable contact with this quality faculty. We have enhanced our research training experience, which provides our residents a wonderful complement to the clinical training. Residents are assigned a full-time, accomplished faculty member to assist them in preparing and executing the required research project.

Over the years, our residents have gone on to highly successful careers in both private practice and academic medicine. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and contributions to pediatrics.

Our location in the Upper East Side of Manhattan is an additional bonus. This is a great place to live. As you know, New York City offers numerous welcome distractions from the demands of residency training.

I look forward to meeting you during your visit to our program.
