This year's James T. Cassidy Award was presented to Thomas J. A. Lehman, MD, FAAP. The award, presented by the American Academy of Pediatrics, recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field of pediatric rheumatology. Dr. Lehman is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College and Chief of Pediatric Rheumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where he also serves as Attending Physician and Senior Scientist. His specialties are pediatrics and pediatric rheumatology. Regarded as an expert is his field, Dr. Lehman is the author of more than 40 published works including It's Not Just Growing Pains: A Guide to Childhood Muscle, Bone and Join Pain, Rheumatic Diseases and the Latest Treatments. His ongoing clinical and research interests include childhood lupus, childhood scleroderma and childhood inflammation and damage to the blood vessels (vasculitic diseases).
