Nutritionist Dr. Rebecca Stoltzfus will host Grand Rounds on Tuesday, October 9th (8:30 am, Uris Auditorium). Dr. Stoltzfus is the Director of the Program in International Nutrition and the Co-Director of the Cornell Program in Global Health (with Dr. Warren Johnson of Weill Cornell Medical College). Trained in Human Nutrition, she is committed to improving the health of women and children around the world by improving their nutritional intake and awareness and by employing a cross-cultural approach.
Dr. Stoltzfus has collaborated with communities and institutions in Zanzibar for eleven years to improve the health and nutrition awareness among mothers there. Her current projects include a clinic-randomized trial of intervention packages to prevent severe pregnancy anemia and its consequences pregnancy in Zanzibari women, and maternal and infant acceptability of a fortified processed complementary food. Other research regions include Nepal, Zimbabwe and Peru.
