Introducing the Pediatric Support Team at the Komansky Center -- a new resource for families, patients and staff

The Pediatric Support Team is up and running! Comprised of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, and chaplains, the Pediatric Support Team at the Komansky Center for Children's Health has been formed to provide additional support for patients with chronic, life-limiting, or terminal illnesses, their families, and the staff members caring for them.

When asked to consult, the team will meet with the family (and patient, if age-appropriate) to discuss issues related to quality of life, symptom control, and family/patient preferences regarding care at various stages of illness. The consultation will be documented in the medical record using an established tool known as the decision making tool which will be available to all members of the health care team and to the patient/family.

The Pediatric Support Team is available for consultations Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. All are invited to take advantage of this valuable service.

For more information and to schedule a consultation, please contact the Pediatric Support Team at:

212-746-6123 or beeper number 16383 (dial 212-746-6700 for pager system)
