Pioneer in craniofacial surgery to present talk on cleft lip and palate deformities, March 31st
International craniofacial surgery pioneer
Kenneth E. Salyer, MD, will deliver his talk,
"The Treatment of Cleft Lip and Palate Deformities from Infancy to Adulthood," on
Monday, March 31, 2008 from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm in Payson 721. Dr. Salyer's presentation is part of the Department of Surgery's Faculty Lecture Series. He is a leader in the treatment of cleft lip and palate, bone replacement and regeneration and craniofacial anomalies.
Dr. Salyer is the Founding Chairman and Director of the
World Craniofacial Foundation as well as the founder of the
International Craniofacial Institute, which he established in 1986 in Dallas, Texas. He also established the Cleft Lip and Palate Treatment Center at Medical City Dallas Hospital.
In addition to these achievements, Dr. Salyer is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry and Clinical Professor in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has directed one of the leading fellowship training programs in craniofacial surgery and remains committed to education and research. He is a sought-after presenter at national and international conferences and a prolific author; his publications include co-authorship of a two-volume color ATLAS of Craniofacial and Cleft Surgery (1999).
He received his MD degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City and completed residency training in general surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
