Last year's art auction at Phillips de Pury & Company was a huge success with proceeds totaling more than $450,000. Acquisitions are free of a buyer's premium and sales tax, allowing all sale proceeds to go to the division.

Participating artists this year included: Richard Serra, Massimo Vitali, Richard Pettibone, Lino Tagliapietra, Tom Otterness, Abelardo Morell, Zhang Huan, Matthew Pillsbury, Rita Ackermann, Will Ryman including more than 50 other artists.

Highlights of the Children's Cancer and Blood Foundation 2009 Contemporary Art Auction included Richard Serra's Oteiza, 2003, a painting estimated at $23,000 that focuses on a series of intersecting and overlapping ellipses; and a Massimo Vitali Italian beach panorama, #0151 Marina Carrara, Torre Fiat, 1995 estimated at $8,000-9,000.
