For Families and Visitors

This guide will answer many of the questions you may have if your child requires diagnostic, medical, surgical or emergency care at the Komansky Center for Children's Health.

We understand that entering a hospital can be confusing and overwhelming for children – and for their families, too. That is why we place great importance on being a "family-centered" children’s health center. Our staff is committed to providing outstanding and compassionate care to each and every one of our young patients and is also sensitive and responsive to the issues facing their families.

Knowing as much as possible beforehand can help ease stress – and this guide is designed to do just that. For example, before you and your child arrive at the Komansky Center – whether for outpatient services or inpatient care – you will find directions and parking information and what you will need to bring with you. If your child is scheduled for surgery, you will be able to review the general process, from admission to recovery. And because you will want information about meals, television, visiting hours, etc., if your child is admitted to the hospital, we also inform you about a wide range of these topics.
