STATEMENT OF NEED

This course is designed for academic pediatric gastroenterologists, GI fellows, pediatricians, nurse practitioners and other health care professionals to provide new developments in diagnosis and treatment on various topics in the field of pediatric gastroenterology.

The purpose of this conference is to provide a comprehensive understanding of gastroenterologic complaints affecting the pediatric population. The conference will address recent advances in research, diagnosis and treatment. It will also update physicians on the latest developments in the specialty. The activity is meant to lead to improved patient care by educating physicians on new treatment options and utilization of diagnostic tools. Conference topics include Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Respiratory Presentations of GERD, Medical and Surgical Management of Liver Disease and failure in children and Advances in Celiac Disease.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for family practitioners and primary care physicians as well as nurses and other allied health professionals who specialize in the treatment and diagnosis of common medical illnesses in the adult and pediatric community.

COURSE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

This educational activity is approved for 5.5 Category 1 credits.

It is intended that this Weill Cornell course will lead to improved patient care. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand the signs and symptoms of the diseases presented
  2. Provide better diagnostic tools and treatment regimen to patients with conditions mentioned
  3. Know the recent literature related to the topics
  4. Understand new research findings and develop new treatment strategies

Approaching from south of East 70th Street - Take the FDR Drive Northbound to the 61st Street exit. Make a right onto York Avenue and go north to E. 69th Street.

Approaching from north of east 70th Street - Take the FDR Drive southbound to the 71st Street exit. Make a left onto York Avenue and go south to E. 69th Street.

By Bus
Take the M31 to the East 69th Street stop, which stops directly in front of 1300 York Avenue and the entrance to Weill Cornell Medical College. (The M31 operates north and south on York Avenue, and across town on 57th Street).

By Subway
Take the #6 train to 68th Street/Hunter College. Walk four blocks east to York Avenue, or take the M66 bus eastbound to York Avenue. At York Avenue make a left and walk 1 block north to E. 69th Street and the entrance to Weill Cornell Medical College at 1300 York Avenue.
