The Komansky Center for Children's Health at NewYork-Presbyterian Hosptial/Weill Cornell Medical Center has one of the countries oldest child psychiatry programs, providing diagnostic, therapeutic and crisis intervention services to several thousand patients annually. Child and adolescent psychiatric services include outpatient, inpatient, emergency and consultative services.
The Child Psychiatry Outpatient Department provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment to children and adolescents with a wide range of emotional and developmental disorders and, when appropriate, provides ongoing treatment. Treatment modalities include medication, psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, family counseling, and parent guidance.
Inpatient psychiatric services are provided to adolescents ages 13 and up in our Payne Whitney Manhattan facility and to both children and adolescents in our Payne Whitney Westchester facility.
In addition, psychiatric consultations are provided to hospitalized children and adolescents to facilitate their ability to participate in their medical care, to help them cope with their illness or injury, to ease the anxiety around difficult tests and procedures, and to enhance their recovery.
