The Division of Quality and Medical Informatics, jointly housed in the Departments of Pediatrics and Public Health, is a unique multidisciplinary division with the mission of improving clinical quality and patient safety. Our focus is on the use of health information technology (health IT) to accomplish these aims.
The division was created with the support of Weill Cornell Medical College and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, which have long been leaders in advancing the use of health IT. As health IT has become a more urgent national and state priority, the division has become involved in a wide variety of timely and novel initiatives that include research, patient care, training, and operational activities.
The division has expertise in several disciplines, including quantitative and qualitative research methodology, medical informatics, and quality improvement. The division is staffed with six full-time faculty members, two full-time fellows, two biostatisticians, four research coordinators, three research assistants, a research nurse, a division administrator, and an administrative assistant.
Funding is extensive and diverse. The division's many grants are supported by governmental agencies and private foundations, including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), the New York State Department of Health, and The Commonwealth Fund.
We are actively recruiting faculty and postdoctoral fellows.
