Pediatric Rheumatology
The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology provides complex and comprehensive diagnostic services for children with rheumatic diseases and related conditions. These conditions include:
- juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
- psoriatic arthritis
- juvenile ankylosing spondylitis
- spondyloarthropathies
- other forms of childhood arthritis
The division faculty also specializes in the care of children with:
- systemic lupus erythematosus
- juvenile dermatomyositis
- scleroderma
- morphea
- polyarteritis nodosa
- systemic vasculitis
- Wegener's syndrome
- Bechet's syndrome
- Sjogren's syndrome
- Takayasu's arteritis
- Henoch Schoenlein Purpura
In addition to our expertise in these well defined rheumatic
syndromes, we provide care for children with a variety of related musculoskeletal syndromes such as:
- Lyme Disease
- Kawasaki Disease
- uveitis (requiring immunosuppressive therapy).
Other areas of expertise include:
- Parry Romberg syndrome
- myositis ossificans
- idiopathic multifocal osteomyelitis
- reflex sympathetic dystrophy and many others.
With the support of the full resources of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and the
Hospital for Special Surgery, we are happy to accept the referral of children with complex musculoskeletal conditions whether or not a firm diagnosis has been established. These include limb pain, fever of unknown origin, and "sed rate" of unknown origin.
