Pediatric Rheumatology

The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology provides complex and comprehensive diagnostic services for children with rheumatic diseases and related conditions. These conditions include:

  • juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
  • psoriatic arthritis
  • juvenile ankylosing spondylitis
  • spondyloarthropathies
  • other forms of childhood arthritis

The division faculty also specializes in the care of children with:
  • systemic lupus erythematosus
  • juvenile dermatomyositis
  • scleroderma
  • morphea
  • polyarteritis nodosa
  • systemic vasculitis
  • Wegener's syndrome
  • Bechet's syndrome
  • Sjogren's syndrome
  • Takayasu's arteritis
  • Henoch Schoenlein Purpura

In addition to our expertise in these well defined rheumatic syndromes, we provide care for children with a variety of related musculoskeletal syndromes such as:

  • Lyme Disease
  • Kawasaki Disease
  • uveitis (requiring immunosuppressive therapy).

Other areas of expertise include:
  • Parry Romberg syndrome
  • myositis ossificans
  • idiopathic multifocal osteomyelitis
  • reflex sympathetic dystrophy and many others.
With the support of the full resources of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Hospital for Special Surgery, we are happy to accept the referral of children with complex musculoskeletal conditions whether or not a firm diagnosis has been established. These include limb pain, fever of unknown origin, and "sed rate" of unknown origin.
